Before the dashboards there was a model. Architecture is where the instinct started — holding an entire system in your head: hierarchy, structure, and how a person moves through it.

A physical model forces a discipline screens let you dodge: you cannot fake the whole. Every volume, every threshold, every sightline exists at once, and they all have to resolve into one coherent thing a person can walk through.
That is the same problem as a dashboard. Fourteen levels of hierarchy, a hundred data points, an executive and an analyst — all of it has to cohere into one legible structure with an obvious way in.
Architecture makes you hold an entire system in your head.
Hierarchy decides what you notice first. Structure decides what holds it up. Circulation decides how you move from one idea to the next. Rename the nouns and it is interface design — the discipline just moved from concrete to pixels.

Every product I design still starts here: what is the structure, and how does a person move through it? The medium changed. The instinct didn't.
Change the medium — keep the instinct.
